Okay, so I decided to throw a Mad Hatter tea party! It seemed like such a fun, whimsical idea. I started by gathering some inspiration. I wanted it to be colorful, mismatched, and a little bit chaotic – in a good way, of course.

Prep Time!
First things first, the decorations. I went all out with this. I’m talking:
- Mismatched teacups and saucers: I hit up a few thrift stores and found some real gems. Nothing matched, and that was the whole point!
- Playing cards: I strung these up everywhere, hanging them from the ceiling and scattering them on the table.
- Brightly colored tablecloths: I layered a couple of different ones, a floral one and a striped one, to add to the craziness.
- “Eat Me” and “Drink Me” labels: I made some cute little tags and tied them to the food and drinks.
Then came the fun part – the food! I wanted a mix of sweet and savory, and everything had to look a bit… well, mad.
The Menu
- “Mushroom” Sandwiches: To prepare, I grabbed some bread, cut out circle shapes. And the filling is basic, just cream cheese and cucumber.
- Teacup Cookies: I found a teacup-shaped cookie cutter online. And after baking and cooling, time to decorate! I used royal icing to make them look like little teacups, with different colors and patterns.
- “Painting the Roses Red” Tarts: I made some mini fruit tarts and used a little red food coloring to brush the tops of the strawberries, so they looked like they were being painted.
- “Cheshire Cat” Cheese Ball: I make a cheese ball and shape it to resemble a smiling cat.
- “Drink Me” Potions: I mixed different fruit juices and sodas, to make these colorful drinks.
Putting it all Together
I set everything up on a long table in my backyard. Honestly, it looked amazing! All the colors and mismatched pieces really came together.
When my friends arrived, their faces were priceless. They loved it! We spent the afternoon sipping “potions,” nibbling on “mushroom” sandwiches, and just generally acting silly. It was such a blast.

The best part? It wasn’t perfect. Things were a little crooked, a little messy, but that’s what made it so much fun. It truly felt like we had stepped into Wonderland.
I definitely recommend giving this a try. It’s a great way to let loose and have some fun with your friends. Just remember, embrace the madness!
