Alright, let’s gab about this dim sum thing, you know, that lunch thingy. I ain’t no fancy food expert, but I know what tastes good, and that’s all that matters, right?
So, this dim sum, it’s like, uh, a whole bunch of little dishes. Not like a big ol’ plate of somethin’, but lots of small stuff. Kinda like when you go to a party and they got all them little snacks, you know? Only this is Chinese, I think. My neighbor, Mrs. Kim, she talks about it sometimes. She says it’s a big deal in her family.
- They got these little dumpling things, she calls ’em “siu mai.” Said they’re soft and… what was the word… tender? Yeah, tender. I guess that means they ain’t tough and chewy.
- And then there’s other stuff too, all sorts of little bites. I don’t know all the names, too fancy for me. But Mrs. Kim says it’s all about sharing. You don’t just hog it all to yourself, you know? You pass it around, everyone gets a taste. Sounds like a good way to eat to me.
Now, when do you eat this dim sum stuff? Well, it ain’t no dinner food, that’s for sure. Mrs. Kim says it’s more like a brunch or lunch thing. You know, late mornin’ or early afternoon. Makes sense, I guess. It’s all little bits and pieces, not enough to fill you up for a whole night, you know what I mean? You’d be hungry again before bedtime for sure.
And get this, Mrs. Kim says it’s a weekend thing for some folks. Families get together and eat dim sum. Sounds like a good time. I always liked getting together with my family, though we mostly just had fried chicken and potato salad. But hey, to each their own, right?
She also said somethin’ about the best time to go is like, 10:30 or 11:00 in the morning. Said if you go later, you gotta wait a long time. I ain’t got time for that. I got things to do, you know? Gotta feed the chickens, gotta weed the garden, gotta… well, you get the picture.
Now, here’s the thing. Mrs. Kim, she’s always worried about her weight, you know? She says this dim sum ain’t exactly healthy. She said something about it having a lot of fat and carbs. Well, I say, everything good is probably bad for you. That’s just the way life is, ain’t it? A little bit of somethin’ tasty ain’t gonna kill ya. Besides, all that sharin’ and laughin’ with family, that’s gotta be good for the soul, right?
So, there you have it. My take on this dim sum lunch. I ain’t been to one of them fancy restaurants in Seoul that Mrs. Kim talks about, but maybe I will someday. Sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. But for now, I’ll stick to my fried chicken and biscuits. At least I know what I’m gettin’ with that.
But hey, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ different, somethin’ to share with your family and friends, maybe give this dim sum a try. Just don’t go expectin’ a big, hearty meal. And don’t go blamin’ me if you gotta loosen your belt a notch afterwards! It sounds tasty, even if it ain’t the healthiest thing in the world. And who knows, maybe you’ll even see me there one day, tryin’ to figure out what all them little dishes are!
And one more thing, remember what * said, go early, ‘round 10:30 or 11. That’s if you don’t want to wait forever, which I surely don’t. I got better things to do then sit around waitin’ on food. I could be home waterin’ my petunias or somethin’.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about dim sum. It’s little food, you eat it for lunch, it’s good for sharin’, and maybe don’t eat it everyday if you’re watchin’ your figure. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make myself a sandwich. All this talk about food made me hungry!
