So, the other day, I found myself with a bit of free time, you know? Just sitting around, feeling a little restless. Didn’t want to start anything too big or complicated. My eyes landed on a stack of colored paper I had lying around from ages ago. Thought to myself, “Right, let’s do something with this.” Paper crafts seemed like the way to go – supposed to be easy, supposed to be quick.

First thing, I grabbed the paper stack. Mostly construction paper, some printer paper too. Found my trusty old scissors – the ones with the slightly sticky handle, but they cut alright. And some glue stick, the purple kind that dries clear. Always liked that.
Getting Started – The Folding Part
I decided to start with something super basic. Folding. Remembered making those little paper fortune tellers back in the day. So, I picked a bright yellow sheet. Folded it corner to corner to make a square, trimmed off the extra bit. Then it was all about folding edges to the center, flipping it over, folding corners again. Got my fingers working, trying to make the creases sharp. It came together pretty fast, actually. Wrote some silly fortunes inside with a pen I found nearby. Felt kinda nostalgic, doing that.
Moving On – Cutting Shapes
Okay, one thing done. Still had time. Saw a blue piece of paper and thought, “Snowflakes!” Even though it’s not winter, who cares? Folded the paper a few times – in half, then thirds, then half again. Just started snipping away with the scissors. Cut little triangles, curves, notched out some edges. No real plan, just cutting whatever felt right. Unfolding it is always the best part. It wasn’t perfectly symmetrical, not like the ones you see done properly, but hey, it looked like a snowflake. Made a couple more, each one different. It was pretty satisfying, seeing the patterns appear.
- Grabbed paper and scissors.
- Folded a fortune teller first.
- Then folded and cut some snowflakes.
- Used a glue stick for maybe sticking bits later, but didn’t really need it much for these.
Wrapping Up
After about maybe thirty, forty minutes, I had a little collection: the fortune teller and a small pile of unique paper snowflakes. Cleaned up the paper scraps – amazing how much mess you can make from just folding and cutting. It really was pretty easy and quick, just like I wanted. Didn’t require much brainpower, just moving my hands. Stuck one of the snowflakes on my monitor screen with a tiny bit of tape. Looked kinda cheerful. Yeah, a good way to spend a bit of downtime. Nothing fancy, but got the job done.
