Alright, so I’ve been hearing about this dim sum craze in Fremont, CA, and let me tell you, I had to check it out for myself. I mean, who can resist those little bite-sized delights, right?

First off, I did a bit of digging online. I looked up “best dim sum Fremont CA” and saw a bunch of places pop up. Names like Pearl Bay Restaurant, Joyful Dimsum Bistro, Kung Fu Dim Sum, BK’s Bistro, and Din Ding Dumpling House were all over the results. There was also Koi Palace and Gourmet House which sounded pretty fancy, and something called Dim Sum House. Oh, and then there is another called Tai Pan BBQ Express Dim Sum and New Hwong Kok. Too many options!

I looked into a few review sites, and it seemed like these places were the real deal. So I grabbed a buddy, and we made a plan to hit up a few spots. We figured we’d start with Kung Fu Dim Sum ’cause it kept popping up, and the name just sounded cool.

We walked in, and the place was buzzing. Lots of families, friends, all gathered around tables piled high with those bamboo steamers. We got seated and started ordering like there was no tomorrow. We tried everything.

  • The Pac shoot and shrimp dumpling? Oh man, the flavors were popping!
  • The scallop dumpling was so tender and juicy, it practically melted in my mouth.
  • And we ordered a whole bunch of other stuff, too. I’m talking about classic pork buns, shrimp dumplings, sticky rice – the works!

After stuffing ourselves silly at Kung Fu Dim Sum, we decided to check out another place. It’s not dinner time anyway since dim sum is eaten at breakfast or lunch. We rolled over to Joyful Dimsum Bistro, which had a bit more of a modern vibe. Their menu was a bit different, but still super tasty. I remember this one dish – a crispy taro puff. So good! And, we saw a lot of people eating their dim sum take out, maybe it’s a good option.

By the end of the day, we were completely dim sum-ed out. We hit up three places in total, and each one had its own unique flavor and vibe. We had such a good time that we decided to make it a regular thing.
