Alright, let me tell you about trying out dim sum at the Dubai Mall the other day.

I was already in the mall, just walking around, you know, killing time. Then hunger hit me. Wasn’t sure what I wanted at first, but then the thought of dim sum popped into my head. Felt like a good idea.
Finding the Spot
Now, finding a specific place in Dubai Mall can be a mission. I remembered hearing about a dim sum restaurant there, but couldn’t recall exactly where. Pulled out my phone for a quick search inside the mall’s app, still took me a good 10-15 minutes of walking. It’s a huge place, easy to get turned around.
Finally found it. Looked pretty busy from the outside, which I usually take as a good sign.
Getting Seated and Ordering
Went inside. The hostess guided me to a small table. The vibe was okay, bustling, lots of chatter. Nothing too fancy, but clean enough. They handed me a menu, one of those laminated ones. It had pictures, which helps.
I decided to stick with some classics to see how they did the basics. Here’s what I went for:

- Har Gow (Shrimp dumplings)
- Siu Mai (Pork and shrimp dumplings)
- Char Siu Bao (BBQ pork buns)
- Some basic steamed greens, just to have something green.
The ordering process was straightforward. Flagged down a waiter, pointed at what I wanted, and they jotted it down.
The Food Experience
The food didn’t take too long to arrive, maybe about 15 minutes. Came out in those traditional bamboo steamers, piping hot.
Started with the Har Gow. The skin was a bit thick, not as translucent as I like, but the shrimp filling was decent. Tasted fresh enough.
Then the Siu Mai. These were okay. A bit dense, maybe? The flavor was fine, but nothing special. Felt like it was missing something.
The Char Siu Bao were probably the best part. The buns were fluffy and soft, and the BBQ pork filling was sweet and savory, pretty generous amount too. Enjoyed these.

The steamed greens were just… steamed greens. Did the job.
Service and Wrapping Up
Service was efficient, I guess. They brought the food, refilled my water once when asked. Nobody was overly chatty, but they weren’t rude either. Just busy doing their jobs.
Finished up everything. Didn’t feel overly full, which is good for dim sum. Got the bill. It wasn’t super cheap, but then again, it’s Dubai Mall, so prices are usually higher. Paid up and left.
Final Thoughts
So, dim sum at Dubai Mall. Was it the best I’ve ever had? Definitely not. Was it terrible? No. It was just… okay. It satisfied the craving I had at that moment.
Would I rush back specifically for it? Probably not. But if I was in the mall again and really wanted dim sum, yeah, maybe I’d stop by. It served its purpose. Just a straightforward meal, nothing more, nothing less.
