Yesterday, I planned a barbecue party. It was a spur-of-the-moment idea, but I wanted to make the most of the beautiful weather. First, I made a list of all the friends I wanted to invite and sent out quick messages. I was stoked when almost everyone said they could make it on such short notice!
Next, I had to figure out the food. I decided to keep it classic and simple. I made a shopping list: hot dogs, burgers, buns, and all the fixings like cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. I also grabbed some corn on the cob because what’s a barbecue without it, right? I remembered we were out of charcoal, so I added that to the list too, along with some lighter fluid.
I rushed to the grocery store and got everything I needed. While I was there, I spotted a big bag of marshmallows and thought, “Why not?” A little dessert never hurts. I also picked up some skewers for the marshmallows and some chocolate and graham crackers for s’mores.
Back home, I started prepping the food. I seasoned the burger patties with salt, pepper, and a bit of garlic powder. I shucked the corn and wrapped them in foil with a dab of butter, salt, and pepper. Then, I chopped up the veggies and set them aside.
Setting Up
I went out to the backyard and set up the grill. I cleaned the grates, poured in the charcoal, and doused it with lighter fluid. After letting it soak for a bit, I lit it up. While the grill was heating, I set up some chairs and a table on the patio. I also put out some snacks like chips and salsa to keep everyone happy while they waited.
Once the coals were glowing, I threw the burgers and hot dogs on the grill. The smell was amazing! I grilled the corn alongside them. Everyone started arriving, and the party really got going. We were all laughing, sharing stories, and just enjoying the vibe.
Cooking and Eating
I kept flipping the burgers and hot dogs to make sure they cooked evenly. When they were done, everyone lined up to make their own plates. Some went for burgers, others for hot dogs, and a few brave souls made combo plates. The corn was a hit too; everyone loved how it was cooked in foil with the butter and seasoning.
- Burgers: Perfectly seasoned and juicy.
- Hot Dogs: Classic and always a crowd-pleaser.
- Corn on the Cob: Sweet and buttery, with a hint of smokiness.
- BBQ Baked Beans: I found a recipe online for BBQ baked beans, and they turned out to be incredibly hearty and tasty.
- S’mores: Roasting marshmallows and making s’mores was the perfect way to end the night.
After the main course, we gathered around the fire pit. I brought out the marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. We all had fun roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. It was a bit messy, but that’s part of the charm, isn’t it?
As the night wound down, people started to head home. Everyone was full and happy. I was tired but in the best way possible. Cleaning up was a bit of a chore, but it was totally worth it. The barbecue party was a huge success, and I can’t wait to do it again soon!
