Okay, so the other day I just really felt like having some dim sum. You know how those cravings hit? Yeah, one of those. I was wandering around and ended up near Chinatown Point, figured I’d see what’s good there.

Walked into Chinatown Point, place was buzzing like usual. Lots of people milling about. I wasn’t heading to any specific restaurant, just kinda went exploring inside the mall looking for a dim sum sign. Found a place on one of the upper floors, looked pretty busy which is usually a good sign, right? Decided to just go for it.
Getting Seated and Ordering
Got a table pretty quickly, surprisingly. They gave me one of those paper menus where you tick off what you want. I like these, less pressure than trying to flag down a cart sometimes. Stared at the options for a bit. So much stuff looked good. My stomach was definitely rumbling by then.
I went for some classics, you gotta have the basics to judge a place:
- Har Gao (Shrimp Dumplings): Always my first pick.
- Siew Mai (Pork Dumplings): Another must-have.
- Chee Cheong Fun (Rice Noodle Rolls): Got the shrimp one.
- Xiao Long Bao: Had to see how their soup dumplings were.
- Some kinda fried thing, I think it was prawn wrapped in beancurd skin? Can’t remember the exact name.
Handed the sheet over to the staff, ordered some chinese tea too. Felt pretty good about my choices.
The Food Arrives!
Didn’t take too long for the steamers to start arriving. Piping hot, steam coming off them. Looked decent.

The Har Gao was alright. Skin was okay, maybe a tiny bit thick, but the shrimp inside was nice and bouncy. Pretty standard stuff.
Siew Mai was fine too. Packed well, good flavour. Again, nothing mind-blowing, but solid. Hit the spot.
The Chee Cheong Fun was nice and smooth. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side for me, but still tasty. Shrimp inside was cooked well.
Now, the Xiao Long Bao. These were interesting. The skin was delicate, which is good. Had a decent amount of soup inside. The flavour was okay, maybe needed a little more punch for my liking, but I still finished them all.
That fried beancurd skin roll thingy was actually pretty good. Nice and crispy, good filling inside. Probably one of the better things I ordered that day.

Final Thoughts
Overall? It was a pretty decent dim sum run. Nothing totally blew me away, but everything was pretty okay and satisfied the craving. The place was clean enough, service was efficient, typical busy dim sum joint vibe. Tea was refilled promptly which is always a plus.
It did the job, you know? If I was in Chinatown Point again and desperately needed dim sum, yeah, I might pop back in. It’s convenient and gets you your fix. Just a straightforward dim sum experience, really. Nothing more, nothing less.
