Alright, so I’d been feeling a bit… stuck. You know, sitting around too much, especially working from home lately. Didn’t have the energy or frankly the time to think about going to a gym or starting some crazy intense program. I just wanted something, anything, that was easy and fast I could do right here in my house without needing special gear or hours of my day.

So, I thought, what’s the absolute minimum I could do? Forget fancy routines. I just needed to move my body a bit. I figured I’d just string together a few basic things I remembered from way back when. No pressure, just move for a few minutes.

Okay, Here’s What I Actually Did

First, I found a little spot in the living room. Didn’t need much space, just enough to swing my arms a bit without hitting the lamp. I was just wearing my regular comfy house clothes, nothing special.

I decided to just start moving. Here’s the rundown of my super simple ‘workout’:

  • Marching in Place: Seriously, just started lifting my knees up, like walking but going nowhere. Did this for maybe a minute or two just to get things going. Felt a bit silly at first, not gonna lie.
  • Arm Circles: Stood there and swung my arms forward in circles, then backward. Like we used to do in school P.E. class. Did maybe 15-20 circles each way.
  • Wall Push-ups: I wasn’t about to drop and give twenty on the floor. So I just stood a couple of feet from a wall, put my hands on it, and leaned in and pushed back out. Much easier than real push-ups. I just did as many as felt okay, maybe 10 or 12?
  • Simple Squats: Just stood with feet shoulder-width apart and pretended I was about to sit in a chair, then stood back up. Didn’t go super deep, just enough to feel my legs working a tiny bit. Again, maybe 10-15 of these.
  • Jumping Jacks (the lazy kind): Okay, I didn’t go full speed. More like stepping jacks? Stepped one foot out while raising the opposite arm, then switched. Got the heart rate up a tiny bit more than just marching. Did this for about a minute.

And that was basically it. The whole thing probably took me less than 15 minutes. Maybe even closer to 10 minutes on some days when I was really rushing.

Afterward? Look, I wasn’t drenched in sweat or feeling like a superhero. But I did feel… less stagnant. A little bit warmer, maybe a touch more awake. My heart was beating a little faster, which I figured had to be good. It wasn’t a miracle cure for anything, but it felt much better than just rolling out of my desk chair and onto the couch.

I’ve tried to do this little routine most mornings now. Some days I skip it, other days I might add an extra minute of marching. The main thing is, it’s easy, it’s quick, and it requires basically zero thought or preparation. Just stand up and move a bit. For me, right now, that’s enough.
