So I decided to throw a Spanish-themed party last weekend. I’ve always loved Spanish food, but I’ve never really tried making it myself beyond, like, basic stuff. This was a whole new level, but you know what? It was a blast!

First, I had to figure out what to make. I spent a good chunk of time browsing online, looking for some easy and tasty Spanish food. I found tons of ideas, but I wanted to keep it manageable, you know? I ended up choosing a mix of tapas and a main dish, hoping it would give everyone a good taste of Spain.

For the tapas, I went with some classics. I made some Patatas Bravas, which are basically spicy potatoes with a yummy sauce. I also tried my hand at Gambas al Ajillo – that’s shrimp cooked with garlic and a bit of chili. And, of course, you can’t have a Spanish party without some Spanish tortilla! It’s like a thick potato omelet, and it’s way easier to make than it sounds.

For the main dish, I decided to go big and make a paella. Now, I’ve always been a little intimidated by paella, but I found a recipe that seemed doable. It’s basically a rice dish with seafood, chicken, and veggies, all cooked together in one big pan. I followed the steps as carefully as I could.

Cooking the paella was the real adventure. I had to keep stirring and adding ingredients at just the right time. It definitely tested my multitasking skills! But let me tell you, the smell in my kitchen as it was cooking was absolutely incredible.

The Party

When the guests arrived, I had all the tapas laid out on the table, and the paella was still simmering on the stove. Everyone was super impressed, which made all the effort totally worth it! We started with the tapas, and they were a hit. The Patatas Bravas were nice and crispy, the Gambas al Ajillo was garlicky and delicious, and the Spanish tortilla was gone in minutes.

Then came the paella. I served it straight from the pan, and it looked so colorful and inviting. Everyone dug in, and the compliments started flowing. It was seriously one of the best things I’ve ever made. We finished off the meal with some store-bought flan because, let’s be honest, I was pretty tired by that point!

All in all, the party was a huge success. Everyone loved the food, the atmosphere was great, and I discovered that I actually enjoy cooking Spanish food. It’s definitely something I’ll be doing again. Maybe next time I’ll try making some sangria to go with it!
