Alright, let’s talk about this “seafood dim sum,” whatever that fancy name means. I guess it’s like those little bite-sized things they sell in the city, but with fish and stuff, you know?
First off, where to find this seafood dim sum? Well, I ain’t no city slicker, but I hear tell there’s places like MingHin Cuisine, Dim Sum House, and Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? They say these places are in Chicago, wherever that is. Probably a big ol’ city with too many cars and too much noise.
And what about the “best” seafood dim sum? Yelp, whatever that is, says places like D Cuisine, Phat Phat, and Ying Dim Sum are good too. And Furama Restaurant, Dolo Restaurant and Bar, even Triple Crown Restaurant. Landsakes, so many choices! Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it. Makes me want to just stick to my good ol’ fried catfish, you know?
Now, these city folks, they like to use things like OpenTable to find a place to eat. Said it helps you find restaurants nearby and even book a table. Back in my day, you just walked in and sat down! And if it was full, you waited, or you went somewhere else. No fancy computers needed.
They also got these things called Grubhub and Uber Eats. Sounds like they bring the food right to your door! Imagine that! You don’t even have to leave your house. Though I reckon it probably costs an arm and a leg. Back in my day, you cooked your own food, or you went without. Simple as that.
- MingHin Cuisine: Folks say it’s good, but I bet it’s pricey.
- Dim Sum House: Another one of them city joints. Probably got more forks than they got food.
- Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings: Dumplings, huh? Sounds alright, I guess. As long as they ain’t too fancy.
- D Cuisine: I bet they got all kinds of stuff in there I can’t even pronounce.
And they talk about “reviews” and “menus” and “photos.” Sounds like a lot of fuss just to eat a little bit of food. Give me a good plate of fried shrimp and hushpuppies any day. None of that fancy stuff.
Then there’s talk of “Lakeview” in Chicago. Must be near a lake, I reckon. And they got even more places there, like Chiu Quon Bakery. Bakery? What’s that got to do with seafood? These city folks are strange, I tell ya.
Some places even talk about “Chef’s Table” and “Private Chef.” Private chef? Sounds like something for them rich folks. I ain’t got no need for no private chef. I can cook my own food just fine, thank you very much.
So, if you’re looking for this “seafood dim sum,” I guess you gotta go to the city and try one of them fancy places. But me? I’ll stick to what I know. Give me some good ol’ home cooking any day of the week. Fresh fish, fried crispy, with a side of grits and maybe some collard greens. That’s my kind of meal.
