So, I decided to get into some Spanish cooking today. You know, I saw some stuff online about how you can whip up some Spanish meals in like, 30 minutes or less. Sounded pretty cool, so I thought, why not give it a shot?
I started off by looking up some recipes. I mean, who doesn’t love a good shortcut? There was this one for “Chorizo a la Sidra,” which is basically Spanish sausage cooked in cider. Seemed easy enough. The idea of cooking chorizo in cider sounded interesting.
- First, I got the chorizo. I just picked up whatever they had at the local store. Nothing fancy, you know.
- Then, the cider. Again, just grabbed a bottle off the shelf. Didn’t really overthink it.
- I chopped up the chorizo into smaller pieces, I guess that’s how they usually do it.
- Heated up some oil in a pan and threw the chorizo in there.
- Once it looked a bit cooked, I poured in the cider. I didn’t measure, just eyeballed it.
- Let it simmer for a bit. The smell was actually pretty good!
While that was going, I also came across something called “Paella Valenciana.” Apparently, it’s a big deal in Spain. But it looked a bit complicated for a quick meal, so I kinda skipped that for now. I did read about how some chefs are really into slow-cooking and getting the timing just right. I guess that’s the secret to making it taste authentic.
Giving Tapas a Try
Then there was this whole section on tapas. I always thought tapas were just small snacks, but there’s a ton of variety. I found a list of like, 31 different tapas recipes. Since I was aiming for easy, I looked for the simplest ones.
I tried making something called a “smoked salmon bite.” Sounded fancy, but it was just smoked salmon on a piece of bread with some other stuff. I didn’t have all the ingredients, but I made do with what I had. It was okay, I guess. Not something I’d rave about, but it was fun to try.
So, that was my little Spanish cooking adventure. I wouldn’t say I’m a pro now, but it was a fun experience. I might try some more recipes later, maybe when I have more time. Cooking the chorizo in cider was probably the highlight. It’s definitely something I’d try again. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to tackle that paella!
