Okay, so, I’ve been trying to find some quick and easy ways to style my medium-length hair, and I stumbled upon a few bun ideas that I wanted to try out. I’m not a hair expert, so I needed something simple that I could do in a few minutes, especially on those busy mornings. I have to mention here that I have found that wearing a bun daily won’t cause your hair to fall out, but over time it could start to break off. So I will try to wear the bun a little higher or lower every day.

First attempt: The classic low bun.
- I started by gathering all my hair at the nape of my neck, like I was going to make a low ponytail.
- Then, I twisted my hair tightly and started wrapping it around the base.
- Once it was all wrapped, I secured it with a hair tie. It was a bit loose, so I used a few bobby pins to keep it in place.
Result
It looked neat and tidy, perfect for a day at work. It wasn’t too tight, so it felt pretty comfortable.
Second try: The messy top knot.
- For this one, I flipped my head upside down and gathered my hair on top of my head.
- I loosely twisted my hair and wrapped it into a bun.
- I secured it with a hair tie, and I pulled out a few strands around my face to give it that “effortless” look.
Result
This was my favorite! It looked casual and chic, great for a weekend outing. It took me less than 2 minutes to do, which is a huge plus.
Third go: The braided bun.

- I made a simple braid with my hair and secured the end with a small elastic.
- Then, I wrapped the braid around its base to form a bun.
- I used bobby pins to tuck in any loose ends and secure the bun to my head.
Result
This one took a bit longer because of the braiding, but it looked really elegant. It’s something I’d wear to a more formal event. It held up really well throughout the day, too.
I’m pretty happy with how these turned out. They’re all super easy to do, and they give me a few different options to switch things up. If you have medium-length hair like me, you should totally give these a try. You don’t need to be a pro to get a good-looking bun!
