Hey guys, you know I’m all about keeping things simple in the kitchen, right? So today, I messed around and whipped up some gravy that’s just too easy not to share. Seriously, if you’ve ever been scared of making gravy, this is gonna change your mind.

Getting Started
First things first, I gathered my ingredients. Nothing fancy here, just butter, flour, and some broth. Oh, and I also found some leftover drippings from the roast I made last night. I grabbed my favorite saucepan and placed it on the stove.
Making the Roux
I started by melting a few tablespoons of butter in my saucepan. Once it was all nice and bubbly, I sprinkled in some flour. I used about the same amount of flour as butter. Then, I whisked it like crazy. I kept whisking until it turned into a smooth paste. This took me just about a couple of minutes, and I made sure to keep the heat on low so it wouldn’t burn.
Adding the Liquid
Here’s where the magic happens. I slowly poured in the broth, and I added some of those tasty drippings I saved. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. I kept whisking the whole time, making sure no lumps formed. Then, I cranked up the heat a bit and brought the whole thing to a boil. Once it started boiling, I let it simmer for a bit until it thickened up just how I like it. Took about 5 minutes or so. I didn’t walk away from this; had to keep it moving to avoid the lumps that could ruin it.
Making Some Adjustments
Alright, after a few minutes, my gravy was looking good but tasted a little bland. I remembered someone telling me that salt could really enhance the flavor, so I added a pinch. Wow, what a difference! It brought out all those hidden flavors I didn’t even know were there. But then I felt a bit adventurous, so I also threw in a dash of soy sauce for that extra umami kick. And just because I had some leftover mushrooms and onions, I sautéed them in butter and tossed them into the gravy. Let me tell you, that was a game-changer!
Tasting and Serving
I gave it a final taste, and it was perfect. Just the right consistency, not too thick, not too thin. The flavor was rich and savory, with a hint of sweetness from those sautéed veggies. I served it over some mashed potatoes, and it was a hit with the family. My son even asked for seconds!

So there you have it. That’s how I made a delicious gravy in a few minutes. Easy peasy, right? Trust me, if I can do it, so can you. Give it a try, and let me know how it turns out!
