Alright, listen up, y’all. Gonna tell ya ’bout the best eats in this big city, LA they call it. Dumplin’s and such, they call it “dim sum.” Fancy name for good food, I reckon.
Now, I ain’t been to all these places, mind you, but I hear things. Folks talk, ya know? And they say there’s this place, Lunasia, over in Alhambra. They say it’s the best, but be prepared to wait, honey. Like, a long, long time. Must be somethin’ special if folks are willin’ to wait that long, right? They got all the fixin’s, the shrimp ones, the pork ones, even them little BBQ buns. Oh, and them turnip cakes, they’re somethin’ else.
Then there’s this other place, Sea Harbour, in Rosemead. Heard it’s real fancy, the kind of place where city folks go to show off. But the food, they say the food is good. Real good. ‘Specially if you wanna impress somebody. Guess it’s good for a special treat, ya know?
And there’s a whole bunch of other places too. Bao Dim Sum House, Hong Kong Dim Sum House, Din Tai Fung (though that one might be a bit too fancy for my taste), Kingdom Dim Sum, Ixlb Dim Sum Eats, and even a place called One Bite Dumpling. That one sounds right up my alley, less chewin’ the better, I say!
- Har Gow they call ’em, them shrimp ones. Real tasty, they are.
- Then there’s Siu Mai, with pork and shrimp. Hearty stuff.
- Char Siu Bao, the BBQ pork buns. Sweet and savory, just how I like it.
- And the Cheong Fun, them slippery rice noodle rolls. Slither right down, they do.
- Don’t forget the Lo Bak Go, the turnip cake. Sounds weird, but it’s good, trust me.
- Now, I ain’t a fan of Fung Zao, them chicken feet. Too much work for too little meat, if ya ask me. But some folks love ’em.
- And for somethin’ sweet, Dan Tat, the egg tart. Perfect endin’, it is.
Heard tell these places are packed on the weekends. Seems like everyone and their grandma wants dim sum on a Saturday mornin’. They say ya gotta go early, like ‘tween half past ten and eleven, if ya wanna beat the crowds. But even then, ya might still have to wait. Guess good food is worth waitin’ for, huh?
Now, some of these places, they got some real fancy stuff. Heard tell of one place that charges a whole heap of money for some blue dumplings. Blue! Can ya believe it? More money than I make in a month, I betcha. But hey, if folks got the money to spend, more power to ’em. Me? I’ll stick to the regular stuff. It’s good enough for me.
So there ya have it. A little somethin’-somethin’ ’bout the best dim sum in LA. Go on and try it, ya might just like it. And if ya see me there, don’t be shy, come on over and say hi. Just don’t expect me to pay for them fancy blue dumplings, ya hear?
And remember, dim sum ain’t just food, it’s a get-together thing. Families, friends, they all come together, eat, and yap. Just like we used to do back home, ‘cept we had biscuits and gravy instead of all this fancy stuff.
Anyways, I gotta go now, my feet are killin’ me. Ya’ll take care now, and go get yourself some good eats!
