Okay, here is my blog post about figuring out how to eat dim sum while on the keto diet:

So, I’ve been trying to stick to this keto thing, and it’s been going alright. But man, do I miss dim sum! Those little baskets of deliciousness are my weakness. I was starting to think I’d have to give them up forever, but then I thought, “Nah, there’s gotta be a way!”
I started digging around, trying to find any info on keto-friendly dim sum. The internet’s got a lot of stuff, you know? I saw some folks talking about a keto food search engine, and some general tips, like sticking to steamed veggies. I found some search results about low-carb, keto-friendly Dim Sum recipes. It sounds like you can have some dim sum dishes on the keto diet.
I figured the best way to figure this out was to just go for it. I called up my favorite dim sum place and asked about some of their dishes. Turns out, they were pretty cool about it! They helped me identify some options that were lower in carbs.
Here’s what I tried on my dim sum adventure:
- Steamed Chinese broccoli: I got this without any sauce, just plain steamed. It was actually pretty good! A nice way to get some greens in.
- Steamed shrimp: I think steamed shrimp is a nice choice. If you don’t eat the sauce, it might be keto-friendly.
- Clear broth soups: I figured these would be a safe bet. As long as there are no noodles or starchy stuff, it should be okay. I asked them and skipped the wontons, just to be sure.
I avoided anything fried, obviously, and anything with those thick, sweet sauces. I also steered clear of the buns and dumplings, which was tough, but hey, sacrifices, right?

All in all, it wasn’t a total disaster! I got to enjoy some dim sum flavors without totally blowing my diet. It definitely takes some planning and careful ordering, but it’s doable. If you’re a dim sum lover like me and you’re trying to do the keto thing, don’t give up hope! Just be smart about it, ask questions, and stick to the steamed stuff. You might be surprised at what you can still enjoy.
I will continue to find more keto-friendly dim sum dishes. I will keep you updated!
