Okay, so I decided to throw an Indian food party for my friends last weekend. Let me tell you, it was quite the experience! I’ve always loved Indian cuisine, with all its vibrant flavors and spices, but actually making a whole spread for a group? That was a new challenge.

Some of my friends are vegetarian, others are meat lovers, and then there are those who can handle spice and those who, well, can’t. So, I made sure to include a mix of veg and non-veg dishes, with varying levels of heat.

Shopping

Next up, the grocery shopping. Man, that was an adventure in itself. I had a list a mile long, with all these exotic ingredients that I’d never even heard of before. Thankfully, I found a local Indian grocery store that had everything I needed. The owner was super helpful, guiding me through the aisles and explaining what each spice was used for. I ended up buying way more than I needed, but hey, better safe than sorry, right?

Cooking

Then came the cooking part. I started the day before, prepping all the ingredients, marinating the meats, and making the sauces. My kitchen was a chaotic mess, but the aroma of spices in the air was absolutely divine. I followed the recipes as best as I could, but I definitely added my own little twist to some of them. Cooking should be fun, you know?

On the day of the party, I spent most of the morning and afternoon in the kitchen, putting the final touches on each dish. I had some Bollywood music playing in the background, which really set the mood. My friends started arriving, and their faces lit up when they saw the spread I had laid out.

    • Vegetable Biryani: A fragrant rice dish with mixed vegetables and aromatic spices.

Everyone seemed to really enjoy the food, which was a huge relief. We ate, we laughed, we shared stories, and we made some great memories. It was a lot of work, but seeing my friends happy and enjoying the food made it all worthwhile. Would I do it again? Absolutely! But maybe next time, I’ll start planning even earlier and maybe even enlist some help in the kitchen. Indian food is definitely a labor of love, but it’s so worth it in the end.
