OK, so, you wanna know how to tie a tie? I got you. I remember when I first tried, it was a total mess. But hey, I got it down now, and it’s actually pretty simple. Let me walk you through it, just like I figured it out myself.

How to Tie a Tie Quick and Easy (Master the Art in Minutes with These Simple Steps)

Getting Started

First off, I grabbed a tie – any tie will do. I stood in front of a mirror, ’cause you gotta see what you’re doing, right? I draped the tie around my neck, with the wide end on my right and the narrow end on my left. The wide end was hanging a lot lower than the narrow one, about 12 inches or so.

Making the Knot

  • I crossed the wide end over the narrow end, making an “X” just below my chin.
  • Then, I tucked the wide end up and under the loop around my neck. Kind of like a little peek-a-boo move.
  • I pulled the wide end down and to the right, which was kind of back to where it started.
  • I wrapped it across the front of the narrow end, moving it to the left.
  • Again, I tucked the wide end up and under the loop. This time it was starting to look like a real knot!
  • There was a little horizontal loop at the front of the knot, and I slipped the wide end down through that.

Tightening Up

This was the tricky part. I held the narrow end and gently slid the knot up towards my collar. It took a bit of adjusting to get it snug and centered. I made sure the knot looked neat and the wide end was longer than the narrow end and it reached about my belt buckle.

The Finishing Touch

I tucked the narrow end into that little keeper loop behind the wide end so it wouldn’t flap around. And that’s it! I checked myself out in the mirror, and boom – perfectly tied tie. It took a few tries, but now I can do it without even thinking. You’ll get there too, just keep at it!
