Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try Hakkasan for a while now, heard so much about their dim sum. Finally, I booked a table at the Mayfair location. Gotta say, this place is fancy, all dark and mysterious inside.
I went straight for the “Taste of Hakkasan” menu – seemed like a good deal, you know? 38 pounds for three courses and a cocktail, not bad for a Michelin-starred place, even if they did just lose the star recently, haha.
The Food Journey
- Started with the dim sum platter. Oh boy, this was the highlight. A mix of steamed, baked, and fried goodies. Each one was like a little explosion of flavor in my mouth. I mean, I’ve had dim sum before, but this was on another level.
- Moved on to the main course after that. I picked something, but honestly, the dim sum already stole the show. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but those little dumplings were just unforgettable.
- Ended the meal with a dessert. It was nice, a sweet way to wrap things up. And the cocktail? Pretty decent, I’d say, especially considering it’s usually over 10 pounds on its own.
The Bill
When the bill came, I noticed a 13.5% service charge added on top. Fair enough, it’s standard in these places. Plus, the prices already included VAT, so no surprises there. I paid around 55 in total, which is in line with what I read online. They mentioned something about the Phoenix menu – guess that’s tied to good fortune or something? Sounds cool.
All in all, it was a solid experience. Would I go back? For the dim sum, definitely! It’s one of those things you just have to try. The rest of the menu? Yeah, it’s good, but those dim sum, man, they’re the real deal.
