Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about “gluten-free” lately, and it got me thinking about my own health. I’ve been feeling kinda sluggish and bloated, and I figured, why not see if going gluten-free might help? Plus, I take a couple of medications, and I was curious if any of them secretly contained gluten. So, I started my little experiment.

Digging into My Meds
First things first, I grabbed all my pill bottles. I have one for allergies and another for, well, let’s just say “digestive issues” (ironic, right?). I spent a good hour just squinting at the tiny print on the labels, looking for the word “gluten.” Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Then, I decided to go online. I typed in the name of each medication plus “gluten-free” into the search bar. It was a mess! Some websites said “yes,” others said “no,” and some were just plain confusing. I felt like I was going in circles.
Calling in the Experts (aka My Pharmacist)
I gave up on the internet and called my local pharmacy. I figured, who better to ask than the person who actually dispenses the stuff? I explained my gluten-free quest to the pharmacist, and she was super helpful.
She looked up my medications in her system and confirmed that both were gluten-free. Apparently, most medications these days are made without gluten, but it’s always good to check, especially if you have Celiac disease or a severe allergy.
My Gluten-Free Trial Run
With the medication question settled, I decided to go gluten-free for a week, just to see how I felt. I swapped my usual bread for gluten-free options (which, honestly, weren’t half bad!), cut out pasta (that was tougher), and became a label-reading ninja at the grocery store.

- Breakfast: Usually, I ate toast. Now, I switched to gluten-free oatmeal with fruit.
- Lunch: Sandwiches were out. Salads with grilled chicken were in.
- Dinner: I experimented with gluten-free pasta (mixed results) and relied heavily on rice and veggies.
The Results?
Honestly, I didn’t notice a huge difference after just a week. I might have felt a little less bloated, but it could have been the placebo effect. I guess my “digestive issues” weren’t gluten-related after all. But at least I know my meds are safe!
It was a fun little experiment, and it definitely made me more aware of what I’m putting into my body. I might not be going fully gluten-free, but I’m definitely more mindful now. And I’ve learned that my pharmacist is a great resource for any medication questions!
