Today, I was trying to figure out what “gluten-free” means in Malayalam. It was quite a journey, so I thought I’d share my experience.

First, I tried to search for some background info on gluten. I found out that it’s a mix of two proteins usually found in wheat and some other grains. I also read that it’s naturally occurring but can be added to food to give it more protein, a different texture, or a new flavor. Plus, it can act like a glue to hold processed foods together.
- It’s a mixture of two proteins.
- It’s in wheat and some other grains.
- It can be added to food for protein, texture, and flavor.
Then, I started looking for the Malayalam translation of “gluten-free”. It was a bit tough, but finally, I stumbled upon a free English-Malayalam dictionary online. This thing had meanings for over 125,000 words! It gave me the Malayalam word for “gluten-free”: “കഞ്ഞിപ്പശയില്ലാത്തത്”. That was a bit of a mouthful, but hey, I got it!
I also checked out a few more sources to see what else I could learn. One site mentioned that a gluten-free diet is all about not eating foods with gluten. So, it’s basically eating whole foods like fruits, veggies, meat, and eggs, and processed stuff that doesn’t have gluten, like gluten-free bread.
I also noticed that some folks mentioned something called “celiac disease”, which can be caused by gluten allergy. It sounded like it messes with your digestive system and small intestine.
Then, I learned about the labels. Foods that have wheat, barley, or something called “triticale” have to say so on the label. And foods that say they’re gluten-free need to follow certain rules from the Food and Drug Administration.

My Little Discoveries
- “Gluten-free” in Malayalam is “കഞ്ഞിപ്പശയില്ലാത്തത്”.
- A gluten-free diet means no gluten, so lots of fruits, veggies, and special gluten-free products.

So, that was my little adventure for today. I hope this helps anyone else who’s curious about what “gluten-free” means in Malayalam. It’s always fun to learn something new, right?
