So, I’ve been on this gluten-free journey for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the adventure, especially when it comes to eating out. I have Celiac, you know, so finding safe spots to grab a bite is a must for me. This time, I decided to explore the gluten-free scene in Delhi.
I started my day with a bit of research. I wanted to see what other folks with Celiac were saying about the gluten-free options around here. Turns out, there are a few places that came highly recommended. After all, no one wants to risk a bad reaction, right?
First up, I headed to Fab Cafe in Vasant Kunj. It was one of the names that popped up a few times in my search. I was pretty excited to see what they had to offer. I ordered a few things from their menu, making sure to double-check with the staff about their gluten-free prep methods. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, I figured. The food was decent, and I didn’t get sick, so that’s a win in my book!
- Next, I made my way to a few other spots that were mentioned online, like Greenr Cafe, and Burma Burma Restaurant Tea Room. Each place had its own vibe, and I tried to sample a variety of dishes.
- I also ventured to Smoke House Deli in Vasant Kunj. Their menu had some interesting gluten-free options, and I was curious to see how they’d taste.
I even stumbled upon some places on Tripadvisor. AKU’S – The Brrgrr Co., Caffe Tonino, Mahabelly, and Barbeque Nation were all listed as gluten-free friendly. I made a mental note to check them out if I had more time. There was also this place called Diva Italian, and Amici Cafe that caught my eye.
Trying Out Dishes
Throughout the day, I tried a bunch of different foods. I stuck to the basics like fruits, vegetables, rice, and some meats, just to play it safe. But I also sampled some gluten-free bread and other baked goods at a couple of places. They weren’t half bad, I must say. It’s amazing how much the gluten-free options have improved over the years. I mean, back in the day, it was like eating cardboard, but now… pretty tasty, I tell ya.
Now, I know some folks might say, “Why not just cook at home?” Sure, I do that a lot, but sometimes you just want to go out and enjoy a meal without all the fuss, you know? Plus, it’s nice to try new things and see what restaurants are doing to cater to the gluten-free crowd. So many times, I ordered potatoes or rice as common starch replacements. Some fruits, nuts, and veggies are my first choices, but I was careful about the seasonings.
Overall, I’d say my gluten-free adventure in Delhi was a success. I found some great spots, enjoyed some tasty food, and most importantly, I didn’t get sick! It’s good to know that there are options out there for those of us who need to avoid gluten. And hey, if you’re ever in Delhi and need some gluten-free recommendations, you know who to ask!
