Alright, let’s talk about my little adventure trying to find a decent gluten-free breakfast in New York City. You know, it’s not as easy as you might think.
So, first thing’s first, I woke up super early. Figured I’d beat the rush, you know? I headed out to the city with high hopes. I had done some Googling the night before, so I had a few spots in mind.
First Stop: Disappointment
- I hit this place downtown that was supposed to be a gluten-free haven.
- Walked in, and the vibe was…off.
- Looked at the menu, and it was mostly regular stuff with a tiny “GF” section.
- Ordered the gluten-free pancakes, and let me tell you, they were like cardboard.
- Paid, left a small tip out of politeness, and got out of there fast.
Second Stop: A Little Better
Feeling a bit down, I decided to try another place a few blocks away. This one was a bit more promising. They had a separate gluten-free menu, which was a good sign.
- I went for the gluten-free avocado toast this time.
- It was okay, nothing to write home about.
- The bread was a bit dry, but at least it wasn’t cardboard.
- I ate it, paid the bill, and moved on.
Third Time’s the Charm?
By this point, I was starting to lose hope. But I figured, one more try. I remembered seeing a place on my list that was a bit further uptown, so I jumped in a cab and headed over.
- This place was a dedicated gluten-free bakery and cafe.
- I walked in and immediately felt better.
- The whole place smelled amazing, like actual bread.
- I ordered a gluten-free breakfast sandwich, and oh boy.
- It was delicious! The bread was soft, the fillings were fresh, and it was just…perfect.
Finally, a win! I savored every bite, paid the bill, and left a generous tip. I even grabbed a few extra pastries for later. It just goes to show, sometimes you gotta go through a few duds to find a gem. This place totally made my day.
So, if you’re ever in NYC and need a gluten-free breakfast, skip the first two places and head straight to that little bakery uptown. Trust me, you won’t regret it. That’s all for now, folks. Stay tuned for more of my gluten-free adventures!
