First, I grabbed a package of kielbasa from the grocery store. The pre-cooked kind, you know? Makes life much easier. I also picked up some onions, bell peppers (whatever colors you like – I went with red and green for some visual pop), and a can of sauerkraut.
Simple Skillet Dinner
I started by slicing the kielbasa into rounds, maybe half an inch thick. Then, I chopped up the onion and bell peppers into chunks. No need to be fancy, just rough cuts.
Next, I heated up a little olive oil in a big skillet over medium-high heat. Once it was hot, I tossed in the kielbasa and let it brown for a few minutes, stirring it around so it wouldn’t stick.
After the kielbasa got some nice color, I added the onions and peppers to the skillet. I stirred everything together and let it cook until the veggies were softened, maybe 5-7 minutes. You want them to have a little bit of bite left, not totally mushy.
Finally, you will be done and eat this simple skillet dinner with some rice or potatos

Kielbasa and Sauerkraut
- One pack of Kielbasa
- One can/jar of Sauerkraut
- One medium Onion.
For this one, I used pretty much the same steps, but instead I went on to add Sauerkraut.
Heat some oil in a pan, add your sliced onion. Sautee until soft.
Then just add in your kielbasa and brown that up real good.

Open your can of sauerkraut, drain the liquid (important!), and dump that in the skillet too. Give it all a good stir, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, just to heat the sauerkraut through and let the flavors mingle.
And that’s it! Seriously, so easy, and it’s a surprisingly tasty combo. You can serve it with some mustard on the side if you’re feeling fancy. Or just eat it straight out of the pan, like I did. No judgment here.
So there you have it – two super quick and easy kielbasa recipes that even I, a decidedly average cook, can manage. Give them a try, and let me know what you think!
