Okay, so I’ve been hearing about this place, Dim Sum Royal China, for ages. Everyone’s always going on about how good their dim sum is, and I finally decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, it was an adventure.
First off, I gathered a couple of friends. You gotta have a crew for dim sum, right? We picked a Saturday morning, thinking it would be less crowded. We were wrong. The place was already buzzing when we got there. But hey, that’s a good sign, right?
We put our names down and waited. It was about a 20-minute wait, but it gave us time to check out the menu and plan our attack. They had all the classics – har gow, siu mai, char siu bao. But they also had some interesting stuff, like these fried taro dumplings that looked crazy good.
Finally, our name was called. We were led to a big round table in the middle of the room, and the feast began. Carts piled high with steaming baskets started rolling out. We just started pointing and grabbing, it was kind of a free-for-all.
The Food
Here’s a little breakdown of what we devoured:
- Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings): These were plump and juicy, with a nice thin wrapper. Definitely a winner.
- Siu Mai (Pork and Shrimp Dumplings): Classic, savory, and always a good choice.
- Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Buns): Fluffy buns, sweet and savory filling. These disappeared fast!
- Cheung Fun (Rice Noodle Rolls): We got the shrimp version. Silky smooth and delicious.
- Fried Taro Dumplings: These were the surprise hit. Crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside.
We also ordered some tea to wash it all down. It was a pretty standard jasmine, but it did the job.
We ate until we could barely move. The whole experience was a bit chaotic, but that’s part of the fun of dim sum, right? It’s loud, it’s busy, and the food just keeps coming.
The bill came, and it was surprisingly reasonable for the amount of food we ate. We left feeling full, happy, and already planning our next dim sum adventure. I finally got that dim sum at Royal China, all of the dishes were well-made, and I will definitely go there again with my friends next time.
All in all, I’d say Dim Sum Royal China lived up to the hype. It’s not fancy, but it’s authentic, delicious, and a whole lot of fun. If you’re looking for a good dim sum spot, you should check this place out.
