Okay, so today I’m gonna do a dim sum day.
First things first, I woke up pretty early, like around 8 AM. I was craving some good old Chinese breakfast. So, I got dressed and headed out to this dim sum place that my friend recommended. It’s called “Golden Dragon” or something like that. It was not far from where I live, took me just about 20 minutes to get there.
When I walked in, the place was already bustling. Lots of families and groups of friends were there, chatting and laughing. The aroma of freshly steamed food was all around, making my stomach growl. I found an empty table near the window and sat down.
A waitress came over with a pot of hot tea and a menu. I already knew what I wanted, though. I ordered the classics: Har Gow (shrimp dumplings), Siu Mai (pork dumplings), and some Char Siu Bao (barbecue pork buns). Oh, and I couldn’t resist getting some egg tarts for dessert.
- Har Gow
- Siu Mai
- Char Siu Bao
- Egg Tarts
While waiting for the food, I just enjoyed the atmosphere. The clinking of teacups, the chatter in Cantonese, the occasional laughter – it all felt so lively and comforting. It’s like a little piece of Hong Kong right here in my city. I really love the vibe.
After about 15 minutes, the food started to arrive. Steaming hot, just the way I like it. The Har Gow were perfect, with a thin, translucent skin and juicy shrimp inside. The Siu Mai were flavorful and had that nice bouncy texture. And the Char Siu Bao, oh man, the fluffy bun and the sweet and savory pork filling were just heavenly.
I savored every bite, taking my time to enjoy the flavors and textures. The egg tarts came last, and they were the perfect ending to the meal. The crust was flaky, and the custard was smooth and creamy. Just the right amount of sweetness.
My Dim Sum List:
- Har Gow: These are a must-order for me. The shrimp inside is always so fresh and plump.
- Siu Mai: I love the combination of pork and shrimp in these dumplings. They’re always so juicy.
- Char Siu Bao: The fluffy bun and the sweet, savory filling are just irresistible.
- Egg Tarts: The perfect sweet treat to end the meal. The flaky crust and creamy custard are a match made in heaven.
After finishing my meal, I paid the bill and left the restaurant feeling satisfied and happy. It was such a great way to start the day. I love how dim sum is not just about the food, but also about the whole experience. It’s about sharing food with others, enjoying the lively atmosphere, and just having a good time.
I think I’ll make this a regular thing. Maybe every Sunday, I’ll go to a different dim sum place and try out their specialties. It’s a fun and delicious way to explore the city and its food scene. Plus, it’s always nice to have something to look forward to at the end of the week. So yeah, dim sum Sundays, I’m making it a thing!
