Okay, so I’ve been seeing “gluten-free” everything lately, and I got curious. Especially when it comes to ice cream. I mean, ice cream is already pretty good, right? But could it be…better? Plus, my friend Priya is gluten-free, so I thought I’d try to find some options in India for our next hangout.
The Hunt Begins
First, I did a quick search online. Typed in “gluten-free ice cream India” and a bunch of stuff came up. Seems like there are more options than I expected! A few brands kept popping up, so I made a note of those.
Hitting the Stores
Next, I headed to a couple of the bigger supermarkets near my place. You know, the ones that usually have a wider variety of, well, everything. I spent a good amount of time in the frozen food section, reading labels. Turns out, a lot of regular ice cream is actually gluten-free anyway! It’s mostly milk, cream, sugar…stuff like that. But I wanted to find something specifically labeled, just to be sure.
I found a few tubs that said “gluten-free” on them. Some were from local Indian brands, and others were imported. I grabbed a couple of different flavors – one chocolate, because, duh, and one mango, because, India!
The Taste Test
Later that week, Priya came over, and we dug in. Honestly, it tasted…like ice cream! Seriously, I couldn’t tell a huge difference between the gluten-free stuff and regular ice cream. The chocolate was rich and creamy, the mango was sweet and refreshing. Priya really liked them, which was the main goal.
