Okay, so today I was craving some dim sum, and I was thinking, “dim sum menu near me.” I really wanted to find a good spot nearby.
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up the Tripadvisor app. I typed in “Dim Sum” in the search bar and hit enter. It showed me a bunch of places, but I wanted to narrow it down to the best ones.
- I started looking at the reviews. I noticed one place called “Hills Dumplings” had really good ratings.
- Then I saw another one, “Ravintola China,” that also looked promising. People were saying good things about it.
- There was also “Mei Lin” and “Gaijin”.
I decided to dig deeper. I checked out the menus and photos on each restaurant’s page. I was looking for some classic dim sum dishes like har gow, siu mai, and char siu bao. Some places had pictures, which really helped me decide.
Then, I switched over to Yelp. I figured, the more reviews, the better. I searched for “Dim Sum” there too. Same results. The reviews were also quite similar.
But then I remembered someone told me about OpenTable. So I opened up the OpenTable app and searched for “Dim Sum.” I liked that I could make a reservation right there on the app. They even had a feature to use my current location to find nearby spots. That was super convenient!
After comparing all the options, I was still undecided. But I learned that Restaurant Gaijin, Old Market Hall, and Hakaniemi Market Hall are also quite popular. Then I noticed some reviews mentioning “Boiled fish in chili” and “garlic shrimp” at one of the places, and it sounded different and tasty.
In the end, I still haven’t made a reservation. There are so many good options! It’s a good problem to have, I guess. Maybe I’ll visit a few and see which one I like the best. I will surely try that Boiled fish in chili and garlic shrimp! I think I’ll also ask some friends who live around here for their recommendations.
It was a fun little adventure searching for the perfect dim sum spot. Even though I haven’t chosen a place yet, I discovered a bunch of great options for next time. If anyone has any recommendations in Helsinki, let me know!
