Okay, so today I wanted to figure out the deal with shrimp dim sum calories. I’ve always loved these little dumplings, but you know, gotta watch the waistline and all that. So, I did a little digging and here’s what I found out.
First off, I started looking around to see what people were generally saying about the calories in these things. Seems like there’s a bit of variation depending on the size and how they’re made. I saw that one dumpling can have around 44 calories, which isn’t too bad, right?
- Then I got into the nitty-gritty of the breakdown – you know, carbs, fat, protein. Most places were saying it’s something like 49% carbs, 22% fat, and 29% protein for a single dumpling. That’s a decent mix, I guess.
- But then I found this other info saying a bigger serving, like 2 ⅞ oz, could have around 259 calories. And that one had way more fat, about 51%! Yikes!
- One site said just three pieces of shrimp dim sum were 43 calories in total, with 6g carbs, which sounds pretty good for the calorie-conscious.
- Then there was this fried version – a shrimp ball – and one of those has 116 calories. And the breakdown there was 31% fat, 23% carbs. Fried stuff always packs more calories, huh?
I even found a site that’s all about tracking calories, and they had some numbers on shrimp dim sum too. They seemed to align with what I had found so far.
Then, I dug a little deeper and found that 100g of dim sum shrimp has about 167 calories. It breaks down to 52% carbs, 31% fat, and 17% protein. Not too shabby.
And for a specific brand, Nissui, their shrimp shumai has 150 calories for 6 pieces. That’s 45% carbs, 40% fat, and 15% protein. It’s got a moderate calorie density, they say.
But here’s the kicker – I found out that steamed dim sum, like har gow and siu mai, are not only full of protein but also low in calories! Steaming really keeps all the good stuff in without adding extra fat.
So, after all this digging, I realized that the calories in shrimp dim sum can vary a lot. But generally, if you stick to the steamed ones, you’re probably doing alright. Fried ones? Well, maybe just have those once in a while. That’s what I’m gonna do, anyway. Hope this helps someone out there!
