Alright, so I’m a huge fan of dim sum, but let’s be real, it can get pretty pricey. So, I went on a mission to find the cheapest dim sum spots in Singapore. And guess what? I found some really good ones!
First, I started with some online research. I saw a few articles talking about the best affordable dim sum places, with one mentioning “Here are 12 places in Singapore where you can find the best dim sum delights that won’t burn a hole in your wallet.” That sounded promising! I also found one place called Kuai San Dian Xin mentioned quite a few times. They had senior discounts and high tea deals. Nice!
Then I stumbled upon a list highlighting places with dim sum as cheap as $0.90. Can you believe that? One of them was called Nian Nian Fa Dim Sum, and apparently, it’s run by a former Hong Kong restaurant chef. I was sold!
My Dim Sum Adventure Begins!
First stop, Nian Nian Fa Dim Sum. It’s a small hawker stall, not some fancy restaurant, but don’t let that fool you. The dim sum was seriously good. I ordered their char siu bao, siew mai, and har gow. The char siu bao was fluffy, and the filling was so flavorful. The siew mai was juicy and packed with meat. And the har gow, oh man, the shrimp inside was so fresh and bouncy. And the best part? Each item was super cheap!
Next, I made my way to Kuai San Dian Xin. This place is a bit bigger than Nian Nian Fa, but still pretty casual. I went during their high tea hours, so I got a nice little discount. I tried their lor mai gai, egg tarts, and liu sha bao. The lor mai gai was sticky and delicious, just how I like it. The egg tarts had a flaky crust and a creamy custard filling. And the liu sha bao, when I broke it open, the salted egg yolk filling just oozed out. So good!
