Okay, so I’ve been on a mission. A mission to find the best dim sum in Vancouver. I mean, who doesn’t love those little baskets of deliciousness, right? So, I grabbed my phone, read some stuff online, and decided to try this place called Sun Sui Wah, apparently, it’s a big deal here, even Seth Rogen goes there, that got me intrigued.

I got dressed, nothing fancy, just comfy stuff because, you know, food coma is a real possibility. Hopped in my car and drove down to the restaurant. I found it easily. Once I got inside, I was immediately hit with that amazing aroma of steamed dumplings and all sorts of good stuff. My stomach was already growling!

The place was buzzing, lots of families, friends, all gathered around, sharing these little plates of food. I got seated, and a friendly server came over with a menu. They had so many choices! It turns out there are like a thousand different types of dim sum from Guangdong, China, but usually, you only see forty or fifty types outside of China. I felt a little overwhelmed, but in a good way. I finally settled on a few classics: har gow (shrimp dumplings), siu mai (pork and shrimp dumplings), and some BBQ pork buns. I also ordered some tea because, well, it’s dim sum, you gotta have tea!

The food arrived pretty quickly, all steaming hot and looking incredible. First up, the har gow. The wrapper was delicate, and the shrimp inside was so juicy and flavorful. Then I tried the siu mai. Oh man, the combination of pork and shrimp was just perfect. And the BBQ pork buns? Fluffy, slightly sweet, with that savory, sticky pork filling. I was in heaven!
