Okay, so I’ve been trying to cut out gluten for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s tough! Especially when you have a sweet tooth like mine. I’m a HUGE chocolate fan, and Hershey’s is just classic, right? So, I started wondering if I could still enjoy my favorite chocolate bars without, you know, feeling awful afterward.

First thing I did was hit up the grocery store. I grabbed a few different Hershey’s products – a regular milk chocolate bar, some Kisses, and maybe a Special Dark bar, just to cover my bases. I flipped them over and started scanning the ingredient lists.
It was kinda confusing at first. Some things, like the plain milk chocolate bar, seemed pretty straightforward – no obvious gluten ingredients like wheat or barley. But then, you see stuff like “natural flavors,” and you’re like, “Hmm, what exactly does that mean?”
I noted all the different products and their ingredients on my phone.
My Investigation Deep Dive
I decided more digging. Because, you know, sometimes things are made in facilities that also process wheat, and that can be a problem for some people.
- I started looking at product packages and finding the ingredients
- I try to look for any “may contain wheat” or “processed in a facility that also processes wheat” warnings.
- I write down my findings.
Finally, I just realized, it is not bad for gluten free diet! This might not be the case for everyone, especially if you’re super sensitive or have celiac disease, but for my level of gluten intolerance, it seemed like I could still enjoy some Hershey’s chocolate in moderation. Yay!

So, that’s my little gluten-free Hershey’s adventure. Always read those labels, do your research. And if you want to be extra careful, contact the company directly. But for now, I’m off to enjoy a little piece of chocolate…guilt-free(mostly)!
