First, I made some tuna salad. Just regular stuff, you know, tuna, mayo, some chopped celery, and a bit of onion. I mixed it all up in a bowl until it looked about right.

Then came the fun part. I took some slices of bread – just plain old white bread – and used a cat-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the shapes. I saw it online, and you can use any shape you like, but let’s say, cats are awesome, right? I ended up with a bunch of little bread cats. Adorable!

  • Make tuna salad
  • Cut bread into cat shapes
  • Assemble the sandwiches
  • Add the details

Next, I spread the tuna salad on half of the bread cats and topped them with the other half. Little tuna cat sandwiches! They were already looking pretty cute, but I wanted to take it up a notch.

To make the faces, I used little pieces of black olives for the eyes and noses, and added small triangle-shaped cheese pieces for the ears, and I used some cheese as well to make the whiskers. It took a bit of time, but it was totally worth it. They looked so cool!

Finally, I arranged all the little cat sandwiches on a big plate. And to make it extra fun, I found some cat-shaped crackers and added them around the edges. I also added some pretzels to make it salty. You know, to make it more complete and good-looking.

The Result

They were a total hit! Everyone loved them. They were almost too cute to eat, but we did, and they were delicious. It’s a simple recipe, and the result is pretty impressive. Definitely making these again for my next party. I might even try different fillings next time, maybe chicken salad or egg salad. And hey, you can use different cookie cutters too, if you’re not a cat person. But seriously, who isn’t a cat person?
