Okay, so I decided to throw a brunch party this past weekend, and I wanted to share my experience with all of you. I started by brainstorming some food ideas a few days before. I wanted a good mix of sweet and savory dishes, and since it was a brunch, breakfast and lunch items were both fair game.
First, I made a list of potential dishes. I included things like pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausages, eggs in various forms, fruits, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and some mini quiches. I also thought about drinks and decided on offering coffee, tea, orange juice, and mimosas.
Grocery Shopping
After finalizing the menu, I went grocery shopping. This was a bit of a challenge because I had to make sure I had enough for everyone but not so much that I’d have tons of leftovers. I bought fresh fruits like strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. I also grabbed some veggies for the salads and quiches.
Cooking Prep
The day before the party, I started prepping some of the ingredients. I chopped up the vegetables, cooked the bacon and sausages, and prepped the pancake and waffle batter. I also made sure the coffee and tea stations were ready to go. I figured this would save me a lot of time on the day of the brunch.
Cooking Time
- First, I baked the mini quiches. I used pre-made crusts to save time, filled them with a mixture of eggs, cheese, and the chopped veggies, and popped them in the oven.
- While the quiches were baking, I started on the pancakes and waffles. I used a simple recipe I found online, and they turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself.
- For the eggs, I decided to make a big batch of scrambled eggs and also offered a station for people to make their own omelets. This way, guests could customize their eggs with different fillings like cheese, onions, and peppers.
- I made two types of sandwiches: a classic BLT and a veggie option with hummus, cucumber, and sprouts. These were a big hit and super easy to assemble.
- For the salad, I made a simple green salad with a homemade vinaigrette dressing. It was fresh and light, a nice contrast to the heavier dishes.
Setting Up
On the day of the party, I set up the dining table with all the food. I arranged the dishes in a way that made sense – hot foods together, cold foods together, and drinks off to the side. I also added some flowers and nice napkins to make it look more festive.
Party Time
The party was a success! Everyone loved the food, and there was plenty to go around. The mimosas were a popular choice, and the coffee and tea were constantly being refilled. People mingled, ate, and had a great time. It was so nice to see everyone enjoying the food I had prepared.
After the party, I had some leftovers, but not too many. I packed them up and enjoyed them over the next few days. Overall, throwing a brunch party was a lot of work, but it was totally worth it. I got to spend time with friends, enjoy good food, and try out some new recipes. I’m already thinking about what to make for the next one!
