So, I gotta tell you about this little project I did – making a logo. Nothing fancy, just something quick and easy. I mean, I needed a logo, like, yesterday, and I didn’t wanna spend hours on it or fork over a bunch of cash to some designer, you know?
First off, I just sat down and thought, “What do I even want this thing to look like?” I grabbed a piece of paper – yeah, good old paper – and a pen. Started doodling. Just random shapes, letters, whatever came to mind. I’m no artist, but it helped to get some ideas down.
After messing around with that for a bit, I had a few sketches I didn’t totally hate. Then, I hopped on my computer. I thought about using some fancy design software, but then I was like, “Nah, too complicated.” I just opened up that drawing program that comes with Windows, you know, Paint. Or maybe it’s Paint 3D now? I don’t even know. Anyway, the simple one.
I picked one of my sketches as a rough guide and started playing around in the program. I drew some shapes, tried out different colors. It was a lot of trial and error, moving stuff around, resizing things. I kept it really simple – a couple of basic shapes and the name of my thing in a plain font. It was pretty boring when I saw it, but I thought it worked fine.
- Step 1: Doodle some ideas on paper.
- Step 2: Pick a sketch you like.
- Step 3: Open up a simple drawing program.
- Step 4: Recreate your sketch digitally.
- Step 5: Play with colors, shapes, and fonts.
I played around with a few different fonts, too. Nothing too crazy, just some standard ones that looked clean and easy to read. Finally, after maybe an hour or so, I had something that looked halfway decent. It wasn’t gonna win any design awards, but it was good enough for what I needed.
Save and Use
I saved the logo as a PNG file – that’s important, so the background is transparent. And boom, done! I slapped that thing on my website, my social media, whatever. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and it didn’t take me forever to make. And it is free! So yeah, that’s how I made a quick and easy logo. No fuss, no muss.
