Okay, so I wanted to make a quick dessert today, and I thought, why not try a chocolate pudding? It sounded easy enough, and I had most of the ingredients at home. I found this recipe online that claimed to be “quick and easy,” so I decided to give it a shot.
First, I gathered all the ingredients. The recipe called for milk, sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, salt, butter, and vanilla extract. I double-checked to make sure I had everything, and thankfully, I did!
Next, I grabbed a medium-sized saucepan and whisked together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. It was a bit messy, with cocoa powder flying everywhere, but I managed to get it all mixed up.
Then, I slowly poured in the milk while whisking constantly. This part was a little tricky because I didn’t want any lumps to form. I kept whisking until everything was smooth and combined. It took a bit of elbow grease, but I got there.
After that, I placed the saucepan over medium heat and kept stirring. The recipe said to bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly, until it thickened. It took a few minutes, but eventually, I started to see it thickening up. I was so excited!
Once it reached the right consistency (like a thick sauce, the recipe said), I removed the saucepan from the heat. Then, I stirred in the butter and vanilla extract until the butter was fully melted and everything was well combined.
Finally, I poured the pudding into individual serving bowls. The recipe suggested covering them with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming. I did that, and then I popped them into the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes. This was hard because I wanted to eat it right away! But the recipe said it’s best served cold, so I waited. Those 30 minutes felt like forever!
After what felt like an eternity, I finally took the puddings out of the fridge. They looked so good! I peeled off the plastic wrap and dug in. And you know what? It was delicious! It was rich, chocolatey, and smooth, just like a good pudding should be.

Honestly, this “quick and easy” chocolate pudding recipe was a success! It was pretty easy to make, even for a non-baker like me. It wasn’t as instant as the box pudding, but it was way tastier. I’d definitely make it again. Maybe next time, I’ll try adding some different toppings, like whipped cream or fresh berries. Yum!
